Prince George, British Columbia, Shaman explains that they live in a supernatural world. He tells his apprentice, Chuck Moss that he must make the decision to become a shaman and that Logan will teach him to not fear, doubt or regret. Logan explains that the secrets of life are revealed in death. Logan disappears into the forest. Chuck Moss goes to look for him, suddenly Logan grabs Chuck and shows him how to approach an elk. Logan gets with in arms length of the elk, when he steps on a twig and the elk kick Logan to the ground. Chuck Moss runs off to get help for Logan, but by they time he gets back to the camp, Logan is there waiting for him. Chuck was amazed that Logan got so close to the elk.

Hours Later, Logan teaches Chuck Moss to spare with swords, after defeating Chuck, Logan tells him that they are preparing him for the world will eat him alive. Logan takes Chuck to a cliff, where the only way across to the other side was a tree trunk that they could use as a bridge. Logan walks across and tells Chuck to follow, but Chuck gets scared of how high they are and falls, grabbing the side of the trunk. Logan walks out and pulls him back up, gives him a blind fold and tells him to start again only blind folded. Chuck begins to walk across and makes it.

Later, Chuck Moss sits in a cave with his hand in the mud. Logan tells Chuck that Shaman said that he must stay in the cave with his hand in the mud and can’t remove it. Chuck calls to Logan that he is beginning to see thing in the cave, suddenly beasts come out and attack Chuck. Logan hears the screams and knows he isn’t supposed to help.

In the morning, Logan enters the cave and finds Chuck passed out with his hand in the mud. Chuck wakes up and pulls his hand from the ground and finds a worm in his hand. Chuck asks if his totem is a worm, Logan tells him that it is probably a good thing. Logan tells Chuck that he has something to go before they go back.

Forest, Logan sneaks up to a elk, but just before he gets to it, Chuck Moss approaches it and pets it. Logan smiles and tells Chuck that he is going to do all right.
