Implementing Artificial Intelligence At Work

Artificial Intelligence
Everything we love about civilization is a product of intelligence, so amplifying our human intelligence with artificial intelligence has the potential of helping civilization flourish like never before – as long as we manage to keep the technology beneficial. The Thirty-Third AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence will be held February 7 – 12, 2020 at the New York Hilton Midtown in New York, NY USA. The great fear about cognitive technologies is that they will put masses of people out of work. Most cognitive tasks currently being performed augment human activity, perform a narrow task within a much broader job, or do work that wasn’t done by humans in the first place, such as big-data analytics.

In addition, neural nets provide the foundation for deep learning, which is a particular kind of machine learning. Speech recognition, decision-making, visual perception, for example, are features of human intelligence that artificial intelligence may possess.

Objection: The brittleness of von Neumann machine performance – their susceptibility to cataclysmic crashes” due to slight causes, for example, slight hardware malfunctions, software glitches, and bad data” – seems linked to the formal or rule-bound character of machine behavior; to their needing rules of conduct to cover every eventuality” (Turing 1950).

Furthermore, parallel machines (see above) whose performances characteristically degrade gracefully” in the face of bad data” and minor hardware damage seem less brittle and more humanlike, as Dreyfus recognizes. There are many wave patterns and frequencies that humans are simply unable to detect, this is why machines like the thermal camera that detects infrared waves have become so important for the seamless exploration even of our immediate environment.

Artificial Intelligence Enables A Data Revolution

Artificial Intelligence
The University of Georgia has always viewed Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence as interdisciplinary fields where computer science meets philosophy , psychology , linguistics , engineering and other disciplines. Architecturally, all but the earliest and some later experimental machines share a stored program serial design often called von Neumann architecture” (based on John von Neumann’s role in the design of EDVAC, the first computer to store programs along with data in working memory).

For example, to answer the question What was the score of yesterday’s games?” an A.I. might infer, To answer this question, I must find data for yesterday’s game scores by searching list of reliable sports datasets, I’ll compare that data to favorite teams listed in settings, and report back the scores in audio.” While helpful to the end user, if the response wasn’t exactly what the user was looking for, the A.I. has little ability to adapt on its own over time.

Machine learning is useful for putting vast troves of data – increasingly captured by connected devices and the internet of things – into a digestible context for humans. Computational intelligence Computational intelligence involves iterative development or learning (e.g., parameter tuning in connectionist systems).
