Programmers
The Computer Programming and Analysis Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program at Valencia College is a two-year program that prepares you to go directly into a specialized career within the information technology industry. Just to give you a feel for what programming is like in a high-level language, here’s a program that greets us, pretending to know English. Programmers can also work as freelancers or on a contract basis for multiple clients. Computer programmers create instructions for a computer to act upon by writing and testing code to enable applications and software programs to operate successfully.
Health care is a key growth industry for computer programmer employment, as medical practices are developing a host of new applications to adopt and improve electronic health record (EHR) management, e-prescription programs, and other digital services.
BASIC is also used by non-programming people, such as engineers, who find it useful in problem solving. Students learn basic strategies to characterize and evaluate greedy algorithms, divide-and-conquer, recursive backtracking, and dynamic programming. They will receive practical preparation for entry-level information technology (IT) positions as computer programmers, Web developers and database designers.
Anyone with little to no programming experience. The NYS Department of Labor projects that computer programming and information technology professionals will have “very favorable” job prospects through at least 2014. Information Technology : This degree teaches you how to manage data, store it, organize it, analyze it, and display it for users.

Many people think they must choose a specific programming language in order to become a programmer, believing that they can only do that language. This project-based course focuses on learning to design and create solutions for real world problems using programming, electronics and mechanical systems.
The first widespread use of high-level languages in the early 1960s transformed programming into something quite different from what it had been. I had a poke around Stack Overflow to find out more, and I discovered that while some seasoned programmers consider it a programming language, others don’t.
The hourly pay for computer programmers ranges from $21 to $61, depending on the individual’s geographic location, known programming languages, mastery of each language and experience level. All of Valencia’s A.S. degree programs have an assigned Career Program Advisor who can assist you in determining the best education plan for your goals and can help ensure that you get into the right courses.
